Guiding principles.

The following guiding principles help us to integrate responsible behaviours across the business. The Group CSR Committee reviews these principles at least once a year.

With our Customers we commit:

  • To help our customers to improve their understanding of our products so they can decide which product is right for them.
  • To provide our customers with clear information so they can reassure themselves that the product they bought remains right for them throughout their relationship with us.
  • To listen to and act upon customer feedback about our products and services.

  • To ensure our employees understand and implement correct ethical behaviours.

  • To ensure our ′key′ suppliers comply with our sustainable procurement policy at all times.
  • To support suppliers who do not comply with our ‘CSR standards for suppliers’ to facilitate improvements.

  • To reduce rather than offset our impact on the environment.
  • To integrate environmental legislation across our business.

In the communities in which we operate, both in the UK and overseas, we commit:

  • To support the community as a whole, especially on grass roots issues where we feel we can make a difference.
  • To partner with Third Sector organisations to campaign for the issues that matter for our markets and businesses.
  • To support and encourage employee involvement in charitable giving, volunteering and in utilising the resources available to them.
  • To manage appropriate CSR programmes to address the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) risks and reputation in our marketplaces.
